Part 3
The next day Kari and Jonn both went to the meadow to try to find the other. They found each other at a tree in the middle of the meadow. "Hi, um, excuse me, but I've, um, got a question to ask you," Jonn said quite bluntly.

"I've got about ten to ask you," laughed Kari and so their friendship began. Jonn brought Kari to his place behind the rock. Kari taught him to play a flute made from reeds. The two met every day around the same time and had fun. They went fishing by a river and played with squirrels at the edge of the forest. Their friendship blossomed into love and nobody else knew about it

One day, while they sitting by the big rock, Jonn leaned over and kissed Kari. Kari smiled and kissed him back. Jonn was so relieved that she hadn't gotten angry. He pulled her onto his lap and she laughed. Kari splashed water at him from the stream and he splashed her back. "Okay, stop. I can't go home all wet. My mother will worry about me getting sick," Kari said. A few days later, Jonn said, "Kari, I don't think we should meet secretly anymore, I think you should meet my family."

"But won't all the other girls be jealous when they see me?" asked Kari.

"Yes, probably. But I care about you more than about them .... Are you afraid they'll spy on us or hate you or something?"

"No, it's just that you're probably going to be bugged by them a whole lot."

"I don't mind. So, shall we see how my parents take it?" Jonn asked.

      "All right," Kari replied.

Sure enough, when they headed towards Jonn's village, the girls they passed started whispering but did not bother them. Jonn just put his arm around Kari tighter. When they entered his house, his mother looked at him in surprise. "Now who are you?" she asked Kari. Jonn answered for her. "Um, she's my really, really, really, really, best friend that happens to be a girl."

"Okay, I get the picture," his mother replied. Jonn led Kari to his room.

"Wow," Kari exclaimed at his possessions. She had expected it to be different from her own yet the items were pretty much the same. Something caught her eye. It was a gold anklet with a half circle pendant. On it read:

				  Kristo
				   Veron
				       M
				    Chil
				    Fore

      On the back was written:

				      Lo
				      Yo
				     Alw

"I have one like that too, except the words are different," Kari told him.

"Can you figure out what yours says? I've always tried to figure out mine."

"Mine makes less sense than yours. How did you get it?" asked Kari.

"My parents said I was born with it. I doubt it though," replied Jonn.

"My mother said I've had mine when I was really little and she doesn't remember who I got it from. It's really weird though. The anklet chain seems to grow with me."

"Really? Mine does too. Why don't you bring it to the meadow?" suggested Jonn "Then maybe we can decode it together."

"I can't, Mother won't let me take it out of my room"

"I'll just bring mine to your house some day then," Jonn said "If all goes well when I get there," he added laughingly.

They headed out of his room and towards her house. When they got there, Kari said "Hi, Mother, this is Jonn. He's from the other side of the meadow."

"You're bringing a complete stranger into the house?!" Kari's mother exclaimed. Kari had to sit down and explain to her mother that Jonn wasn't a complete stranger and calmed her down. Then she went into her room with Jonn and picked up her gold anklet. On the front it said:

				   pheras
				   ishia
				   y
				   dren
				   ver

The back side had these words:

				   ve
				   u
				   ays

"You're right, yours is stranger than mine," said Jonn.

Two days later, he brought his anklet with him. This time, Kari's mother did not faint but simply ignored them. Jonn took his pendant out and placed it by hers. As he did this, both pendants jumped and joined together.
Now the front read:

				Kristopheras
				Veronishia
				    My
				 Children
				 Forever

The back of both pendants read:

				  Love
				  You
				 Always

"Okay this is good, we sort of figured out what this says. Do you know who Kristopheras and Veronishia are and how do you get the pendants apart?" asked Kari.

"Mother, we kind of have a problem, can I bring the pendant out? I want to show you something," Kari yelled.

"Okay, bring it over here," Kari's mother yelled back. When she saw the joined pendants, she said, "Oh boy, we need to talk."
