Newspaper gets 30% of the advertising money while telivision gets about 20%
- About 65% of a newspaper's space is devoted to ads. Local businesses buy about 85% of
that space. Do the math, it's about 51% of the newspaper being bought by local businesses.
- Every 24 hours, the average American will be exposed to 1,600 ads/commercials. They come
from TV, radio, newspapers, handbills, and billboards. Out of these 80 will be noticed
(about 5%) and 12 will get a response (0.75% of the total)
- In 1985, there were 2713 name brands advertised on American Network TV.
- It cost $1.2 million to advertise for 1 minute during the 1987 Superbowl. That is
$20,000 per second. That's more than some people make in a year!
- The word new on a product can only appear on a package for about 6 months. Sometimes,
however, it can be used for up to 2 years. It can be called new or "improved" if
it changes in anyway, including color, scent or packaging.
