Considering SEA, Midterm Reflection, Parents' Weekend |
Journal writing is a very good means of procrastination. Back from Metaphysical stuff... I'm embracing this illusion temporarily. I love Stanford. I love Parents Weekend. I am so thankful for Mommy. I love little flowers. And cute random squirrel actions. I love econ! A 95% on the midterm before curving! Wow! I've never gotten so high a score on a midterm! AND the SEA gives great lunches at the Faculty Club! I sat with Professor Gavin Wright. Yay! Good food! AND I've gotten encouragement and prompting to join the SEA sometime... maybe. [Editor's Note - K@ joined SEA sophomore year] So I didn't do too bad on the CS midterm either - despite realizing I had 2 bugs in the programs I wrote and not decomposing Karel the Robot program enough... ABOVE the mean! And not just that... 89/100... An A! Good enough for me! Not like when I was a crazy A+ seeker in HS (Ahem, like you know who you are ;oP) That only leaves argumentative SLE paper - something I find incredibly difficult to do. This rules out Law School. Sorry Buddy, Genna, Haley and any that I had once mentioned doing Corporate Law to. This struggle is like that of Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra. Reading is fantastic! But writing.... hard! Very! *~*~*~*~*~Parent's Weekend*~*~*~*~*~*~ I had quite an adventure yesterday atmy grand aunt
and grand uncle'shouse. We were supposed to go out to eat dinner but my grand
aunt surprised us by serving us a sumptuous dinner! She is a fantastic cook!
Pheasant, squash (and some other spices) soup, baked cauliflower with
cheese/onion, baked eggplant and red peppers, and grilled polenta. THEN dessert
was chocolate souffl!!!! Not only that, but she gave me red wine and Chinese
tea. I must say I enjoyed the tea much more - but it was so weird. Alcohol and
Caffeine? My central nervous system must have gone out of whack. Anyway, I went
to sleep at 11 pm 11 pm!!! That was fantastic! Although not earlyenough to
completely erase my sleep debt - as I noticed during Dr. Dement's class today.
Mommywants to come for Admit Weekend too. She likes
going to class. She was really glad she could see what CS class was like.. but
then today I had to explain pointers and arrays to her.
I think I like Parents Weekend. It's so nice not to
have to call/email my mom but be able to talk with her and get her perspective
anyway. Lunch @ FloMo - ok food - Stern would have better because
when we got back to FloMo from Stanford Shopping Center. Dinner @ Bella Luna after a huge thing about where to eat.
And THEN we walked around University Avenue to check out other restaurants.
Service was definitely not as good as Stern's SYR event. |
